When the team retired at seasons end, he worked with Ronnie Sox match racing. After Ronnie stopped match racing, J.C. worked with chassis builder, Gary Wisecarver. J.C. is currently building a new NHRA Super Stock Chevy II which is also a tribute car to Grumpy Jenkins. He runs the Speed Shop at Kowalsky Racing Engines and also does a lot of the welding in the shop.
